The Cancer Prevention & Education Department
at Hope Cancer Resources is looking forward to starting a new wellness program
in 2017. The Wellness Team will be made up of three certified health education
specialists, who have each received their certification from the National
Commission for Health Education Credentialing.
- Sandy Prince, MS, CHES, our Vice President of Cancer Prevention and Education, has a master's degree in community health from the University of Arkansas. She has recently completed the 500-hour registered Yoga Teacher Training Program at the Arkansas Yoga Center in Fayetteville.
- Abbie Sudduth, CHES, our Education Specialist, will graduate with a master's degree in community health from the University of Arkansas this spring and is planning to complete the Tobacco Treatment Specialist Training at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. in early June.
- Casey Shelor, MS, CHES, CTTS, our Director of Cancer Prevention and Wellness, has a master's degree in community health from the University of Arkansas. She holds the Tobacco Treatment Specialist and Wellness Coach Certifications from Mayo Clinic. Casey is also currently pursuing her Personal Training Certification from the American Council on Exercise.
The team’s vision for the new wellness program
is to enhance quality of life for cancer survivors, their caregivers and family
members, and others in our community. Their goal is to offer access to
education and a variety of health-oriented activities including:
- Personal Training
- Yoga
- Nutrition Education
- Stress Reduction
- Tobacco Cessation
All services will be offered free of charge at
Hope Cancer Resources in Springdale. For more information about the wellness
