July News
We are excited to announce that we will be
adding a support group for Spanish-speaking patients this fall. “Viviendo con
Cancer,” or “Living with Cancer,” will be a monthly supportive and educational
group for adult Hispanic patients, caregivers, families and friends coping with
any type of cancer. All group communication will be in Spanish.
Hope Cancer Resources strives to address the
needs of as many people in our community who are touched by cancer as possible.
In our efforts to better serve the Hispanic population in Northwest Arkansas,
we have three fluent Spanish-speaking members of our team, including a Spanish
interpreter and two Spanish-speaking social workers. Our Spanish interpreter is
available to assist patients during their appointments to make sure they
understand the medical aspect of their diagnosis. Our Spanish-speaking social
workers are able to help address the emotional and sometimes financial parts of
a patient’s cancer. Our newest effort, Viviendo
con Cancer, will help connect Spanish speaking patients with other
survivors.
Hope Cancer Resources wants our Spanish-speaking
community members to know “Ellos no están solos,” (they are not alone). For
more information about this upcoming support group, please contact Tania
Martinez, LSW at 479-361-5847.
