Spanish Interpretation Article Banner

Ineffective or inadequate communication between a doctor and patient is a major barrier to cancer care around the nation. Because of this substantial issue that impacts a significant portion of individuals in our region, Hope Cancer Resources offers a Spanish interpretation service to cancer patients in our community.

Kathy Taylor Headshot with CaptionAccording to the journal The Oncologist, "Good communication between a clinician and patient is challenging even if both share cultural heritage and common values, and speak the same language." Our Spanish Interpreter Kathy Taylor is available to assist patients during their cancer-related appointments to make sure they understand the medical aspect of their diagnosis. Kathy recently celebrated her 10-year anniversary at Hope Cancer Resources and is as genuinely concerned for her patients as she is skilled at providing exceptional medical interpretation at their appointments.

“Born in a foreign country and having spent a few childhood years in another, I know something of the bewilderment one feels not being able to read signs or understand anything of what is being said. How terrifying it must be for someone who has been hit with a diagnosis of cancer! As a trained Spanish Medical Interpreter, I seek to bridge the gap and bring some level of comfort and support along the way through the many facets of oncology care,” Kathy Taylor, Spanish Interpreter.

Kathy has already served more than 53 patients at more than 350 appointments this year and is ready to support more patients with this vital assistance.

If you or someone you know could benefit from our free Spanish interpretation service, please give Kathy a call at 479-361-5847
