August News
Yoga is a centuries-old practice that aims to promote
whole-body health and relaxation. While millions around the world have
benefited from the many positive effects on health that yoga can offer, cancer survivors may benefit even more.
Cancer and its treatments often cause a number of negative
side effects that can leave patients in a state of physical, mental and
emotional despair. Many current cancer patients and survivors are discovering
the many ways that yoga can help relieve their symptoms.
“A
consistent practice of yoga helps aid in digestion and movement of lymphatic
fluid. It also improves balance, stamina, and flexibility. Yoga restores the
mind, body and spirit,” Sandy Prince, MS,
CHES, Hope Cancer Resources Vice President of Cancer Prevention & Education.
We offer free yoga classes to cancer survivors and
caregivers as part of our new Wellness Center for Hope. Sandy Prince has a
master’s degree in community health from the University of Arkansas and has
completed the 500-hour registered Yoga Teacher Training Program, which is the
highest level an instructor can achieve. She is passionate about the many
health benefits yoga can offer survivors and caregivers.
Join us at Hope Cancer Resources and experience for yourself
the many benefits of yoga.
