Self-advocacy is an extremely important part of
a patient’s cancer journey. Unfortunately, often times patients have trouble
finding their voice when it comes to their cancer care. Our dedicated team of
licensed social workers can help empower patients to become their own best
advocates.
Self-advocates play active roles throughout
their treatment to make sure their needs are met and that they receive the best
possible care. Self-advocacy may sound like an easy enough feat, but in
reality, it can be very difficult and is something most patients have to learn over time. “Navigating
uncharted territory in the medical arena can be part of one's cancer journey.
This can be a sometimes scary and daunting experience,” Lauren Dallas, LCSW, Hope Cancer Resources Social Worker.
Our social workers help empower patients to find
their voice and become confident with their treatment plan.
One-on-one emotional and counseling sessions
aren’t the only services we offer that can aid in a patient’s self-advocacy.
Being part of a support group can be extremely beneficial as well. We offer
multiple support groups that can help patients find their voice. “Support
groups allow patients to learn from other patients and survivors about what has
and hasn't worked in regard to care and getting their needs met,” Claire Rinehart,
LMSW, Hope Cancer Resources Social Worker.
Our team of social workers can help you become
your best advocate. Call our office today at 479-361-5847 to take the first
