November News
We’re kicking off Lung Cancer Awareness Month with Shine
a Light!
Shine a Light is the largest lung cancer awareness event
in the United States. This event brings together members of the community who
have been touched by lung cancer.
Every year, more men and women die of lung cancer than
any other cancer type. This is due in part to the fact that “only 16 percent of
lung cancer cases are diagnosed at an early stage” (American Lung
Association). Screening for individuals who are deemed “high-risk” for
developing lung cancer would lead to more early stage diagnoses and less
diagnoses that are in later stages.
Radiation oncologist Dr. Chris McClinton of Highlands
Oncology Group will speak on current lung cancer treatments and future
possibilities for diagnosing and treating the disease. We’ll also hear from
special guest and local lung cancer survivor Sherrie Hayes.
Join us Thursday, November 9 at Hope Cancer
Resources to raise lung cancer awareness as we honor those impacted by the
disease. Help us shine a light.
When: Thursday, November 9 6-7:30 p.m.
Where: Hope Cancer Resources 5835 W. Sunset Avenue Springdale, AR 72762
RSVP: Please call 479-361-5847.
