February News
It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement
of one of our longtime employees, Sandy Prince, MS, CHES.
Sandy has touched thousands of lives during her
27 years at our organization. From her days as a radiation therapist to her most recent role as Vice President of Cancer Prevention &
Education, Sandy has put her heart and soul into helping others.
The dedication Sandy has to improving the
overall quality of life in Northwest Arkansas is exceptional. Earlier in her
career, she cared for hundreds of cancer patients as a radiation therapist.
Since then, Sandy has helped dozens of people quit smoking through our tobacco
cessation program. She has provided cancer prevention education to thousands of
students, business professionals and others in our community. She has
facilitated cancer screenings for thousands of patients. She recently became a
RYT 500 yoga instructor – the highest yoga teaching certification available –
and has since coached dozens of patients and caregivers through our Wellness
Center for Hope.
Outside of Hope Cancer Resources, Sandy has been just as
active as a public health advocate. She was Vice Chairwoman of Arkansas Cancer
Coalition Board of Directors, a member of the Arkansas Department of Health Reproductive Health
Advisory Board, Co-Chairwoman for Washington County Hometown Health, a member
of Gaps in Services for Marshallese Taskforce, and a member of both Madison
County and Carroll County Health Coalitions. She was also part of the
Smoke-Free Fayetteville team that led to a city of smoke-free restaurants and
acted as a starting point for smoking restrictions in public areas across the
state.
Sandy’s efforts and passion for helping people
and reducing the overall burden of cancer in our community have helped shape
Hope Cancer Resources into what we are today. We are extremely grateful for her
years of service and wish her only the best in her retirement.
