Cancer puts a financial burden on nearly one in three survivors (American Cancer Society). Hope Cancer Resources works to alleviate some of that burden in our community by providing financial assistance for those who qualify.

Financial hardships related to a cancer diagnosis can negatively impact patients’ mental health. According to a 2016 study, “Cancer-related financial burden was associated with lower health-related quality of life, increased risk of depressed mood, and a higher frequency of worrying about cancer recurrence among cancer survivors.”

Those who struggle with cancer-related costs are more likely to avoid or postpone medical appointments and treatments. For example, a study in The Oncologist found that one in four patients avoided filling their prescriptions because of the cost. A positive treatment outcome shrinks more and more every time that a patient misses.

Our Financial Assistance Program is available to help ease some of the monetary issues patients may face due to their cancer diagnosis and treatment.

For patients who qualify, we can help pay for their cancer-related prescription medications. When recommended as part of their cancer treatment, we can help ensure patients have access to appropriate dental care. We know that cancer doesn’t affect just one part of life, so we can also help pay for emergency needs such as rent/mortgage, car payments, gasoline (gas cards), travel for out-of-town treatment (hotel, airfare), utilities and homeowners and automobile insurance.

We also provide financial assistance through our Save-A-Life Cancer Screening Program for screening and diagnostic tests. This program provides early detection opportunities to give patients the best possible chance for a cure.
