Oncology social workers welcome disheartening and
unfortunate cases every day that can take a major toll on them physically,
mentally and emotionally. But regardless of what stressful or difficult
situation they may encounter, Hope Cancer Resources social workers remain
strong for their clients and cherish the opportunity to make a difference in
their lives.
The social workers at Hope Cancer Resources are
passionate about walking alongside their clients throughout their cancer
journey. They support cancer patients, survivors, friends and family members
from the initial cancer diagnosis to years after treatment ends. We offer these
services free of charge.
Our ten social workers hold a combined total of five
licensed social worker certifications, two licensed master social worker
certifications, three licensed clinical social worker certifications and three
oncology social work certifications. Their experience and professionalism is
unparalleled and a great benefit to those we serve.
This past year, our social workers provided more
assistance to more people than ever before:
- New Patients Assessed – 3,453
- Financial Assistance – $554,714 for 1,516 patients
- Gas Cards – $66,535 given to 548 patients
- Supportive Emotional Sessions – 221 people ($9,708 value)
- Counseling – 639 people ($80,760 value)
- Eight Support Groups – 310 people ($18,600 value)
- Total Emotional Support Provided – 4,320 patients ($259,200
value)
Our social workers are dedicated to helping cancer patients
and their loved ones better navigate the emotional aspect of their cancer
journey. They provide support for the journey and education
for life during one of the most difficult times in our clients’ lives.
