More than half of all American families have been touched
by cancer. In fact, “fifty-four percent of Americans say they or someone else
in their immediate family has been diagnosed with cancer at some point” (CBS
News). Hope Cancer Resources aims to lower the incidence of cancer in our
community by increasing awareness of high-risk behaviors, early warning signs
and symptoms of cancer, and cancer prevention methods.
"We are passionate about providing awareness through prevention education as it impacts our community to lead healthier lifestyles, for all stages of life," said Hannah Waggener, CPT, Hope Cancer Resources Wellness Specialist.
We provide free cancer prevention education to employers,
schools, churches, businesses and civic organizations in Benton, Carroll,
Madison and Washington counties. Prevention education includes sun safety and
skin wellness, tobacco prevention and cessation, informational seminars on
the basics of cancer and healthy lifestyle behaviors to lower cancer risk.
Last year our Cancer Prevention Education Team
conducted 75 presentations to more than 3,400 people in Northwest Arkansas. The
team has already presented to more than 1,000 people so far this year.
